I was concerned when I arrived 9pm on a Tuesday night to see no other customers at this stall. In fact, the row of hawker stalls at this hawker centre seemed to have gone on strike, with most closed, and the food centre ceiling lights turned off.
It was getting late, so my friends and I proceeded to order - bbq sotong, stingray, oyster egg, and lala (small white clams). To our delight, the food tasted really good. Perhaps it was the fact that the stall owner just had his dinner or that he had no other customer orders to rush through, but I think the secret to the drool-inducing dishes was in the chilli sauce that seems to be used on every dish. My guess is that the owner has put in much effort in cooking his chillis to bring out the flavour. And to top it off, the four dishes(with rice) I ordered for 4 persons cost only $35. Highly recommended despite their limited range of dishes.

This corner stall is found in an open-air hawker centre located at the 4th floor of this old shopping centre that has seen better days. The hawker centre is an anomaly that seems to be in a timewarp stuck in the 80s. A rare find in an age ruled by the Kopitiams and Food Junctions.
It produces some of the better fried kway teow in this area. If you don't want prata or the over-commercialized food eateries across at Cheong Chin Nam Road opposite this centre, then try this stall, gaze out over to Bukit Timah as you eat and let the surroundings bring you back to the 80s.

Situated along Upper Bukit Timah Road, opposite Beauty World Plaza, this popular 24-hour prata and teh tarik place also serves Thai-style Muslim halal seafood dishes as well as Chinese-style zhi-char dishes. There is an in-door air-conditioned room but it's usually stuffy when fully seated. This chain has expanded to a few other places but I'm not sure if they're still operating at those locations.
Food quality is generally decent and above average - although I admit I've not even covered 10% of what they offer in the menu. The range is quite amazing and impressive, though I wonder how the kitchen keeps up stock and quality given such a wide range. But lest we forget, they ARE the *biggest* eatery on this road.

Joo Siah's bak kut teh still maintains its consistency after all these years in business. The soup is as peppery as ever. Unfortunately they were out of the meatier $6 spare ribs portions even though I was there at 530pm. So go in the morning or during lunch time for more choices if you want a wider selection. The nearest train station is Chinese Garden MRT station which is about 5 minutes walk away.
